Urology

Prostate evaluation, kidney stones, urinary tract conditions, and male reproductive health — discreet, dignified care, seven days a week.

Urology is a quiet specialty. Most patients arrive because something has been going on for a while — getting up multiple times a night, a flow that isn't what it used to be, a PSA result that came back slightly elevated, a kidney-stone episode that nobody wants to repeat. None of these conversations are easy to start. All of them get easier in the right room.

That room is what Amadeo's urology service is built around. Discreet, dignified consultation in a private clinic setting in Spanish Town. Prostate evaluation including PSA and digital exam, kidney-stone diagnosis and management, urinary tract infection follow-up, bladder and continence concerns, and male reproductive health — including the topics that men still tend to delay asking about for years.

The patients we see most

The largest group is men over 50 due for a prostate check — sometimes pushed in by a partner, sometimes coming on their own after reading about PSA screening. A combined PSA + digital exam gives the team a baseline; the conversation about what the result means happens at the same visit, not in a results letter sent home weeks later.

The next is patients with kidney-stone pain — either an acute episode they're trying to avoid repeating, or a follow-up after a stone has passed. Imaging is coordinated through our partner network; the urologist reviews the results, discusses dietary changes and any further investigation, and arranges procedural management when needed.

We also see urinary tract infections that have stopped responding to standard treatment, bladder-control concerns, and the broader category of male reproductive health — including conversations about erectile and sexual health that men often delay raising elsewhere. The room is private and the team is matter-of-fact about these topics.

Why families choose Amadeo for urology

Discretion as a default, not a request. Private consultation rooms, careful protocols around examination, and a team that treats urological conversations as routine medicine rather than something to make a patient feel awkward about.

Multispecialty under one roof. Urology often touches internal medicine (diabetes affects bladder and erectile function), cardiology (medications interact), and general surgery (some procedures). Amadeo's 15+ specialists are a hallway away — your urologist doesn't have to fax a question across town.

Over 30,000 families have come through these doors. Your follow-ups, your PSA trend, your imaging history all live in one chart that the urology team can pull up at every visit. You and yours will be in great hands.

Urology FAQ

When should men start prostate screening?

Most guidance suggests an initial baseline conversation about PSA testing at age 50 — earlier (around 45) for men with a family history of prostate cancer or for men of African descent, which carries higher risk. The first visit is a conversation about whether testing makes sense for you, not an immediate test order.

Do I need a referral to see urology?

No. Walk-ins are welcome and you can book a consultation directly. If you have lab results, imaging, or a referral letter from another provider, bring them — they help the urologist avoid duplicating work.

What happens at a kidney-stone visit?

The first visit covers history, pain pattern, and any imaging you already have. The urologist orders any additional imaging needed, reviews dietary and hydration factors, and discusses whether the stone is likely to pass on its own or needs procedural removal. Follow-up is scheduled based on the size and location of the stone.

How much does a urology visit cost?

Cost depends on what's needed — a baseline consult is the most common starting point. We work with most major Jamaican health insurance providers; pre-authorisation may apply for imaging or procedural management. Call (876) 676-5098 for a current estimate.

Is the consultation private?

Yes. Urology visits happen in a private consultation room with dignified examination protocols. The conversation, the examination, and the chart notes are confidential. We understand that many of these topics take effort to raise — the team is trained to make them easier, not harder.
