Cardiology

ECGs, stress testing, blood pressure and lipid management — all on-site in Spanish Town. Open seven days a week, walk-ins welcome.

For most patients, the visit starts with one of three sentences: "the pressure has been creeping up," "I had a moment of chest tightness last week," or "the doctor at my last check-up wanted me to follow up." None of them are emergencies on their own. All of them are worth a careful look before they become one.

That careful look is what Amadeo's cardiology service is for. ECGs, stress tests, blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol panels, and a full cardiac risk review happen the same day in most cases. The team works alongside our internal medicine and gynaecology colleagues under one roof, so the medications, the follow-up, and any onward referrals stay coordinated. Walk-ins welcome, seven days a week.

The patients we see most

The largest group is hypertension — patients whose blood pressure has been drifting up at the pharmacy machine and who need a proper baseline, a medication plan, and a follow-up cadence that actually fits their week. The next is lipid management — people whose cholesterol panel came back high at their last check-up and who want to understand the actual cardiac risk, not just the number.

We also see patients with palpitations, episodes of chest tightness, exercise intolerance, and family histories of early heart disease. An ECG and a careful conversation often resolve the question on the spot; when more is needed, stress testing or ambulatory monitoring fills in the picture. For patients with established heart failure, we coordinate ongoing monitoring with internal medicine so the medications and the labs stay in step.

Why families choose Amadeo for heart care

Everything on one site. ECG, lipid panel, blood pressure check, and the cardiology consult all happen in the same building in one visit — no driving across Kingston to chase a referral or a test result. Specimen collection is on-site; results come back to your Amadeo chart, not to a fax machine you have to remember to follow up on.

The team works together. Heart care isn't a single specialty in isolation — it touches diabetes, kidney function, weight, sleep, and medications you may already be on for something else. Amadeo's multispecialty bench (15+ specialists under one roof) means the internal medicine and gynaecology colleagues are a hallway away when the conversation needs them, not a six-week referral away.

Over 30,000 families have come through these doors. The cardiology team is part of that continuity — your follow-ups, your medication adjustments, your annual reviews all happen with people who know your chart. You and yours will be in great hands.

Cardiology FAQ

Do I need a referral to see a cardiologist at Amadeo?

No. Walk-ins are welcome seven days a week, and you can book a consultation directly. If you have referral notes or recent test results from another provider, bring them — they help us avoid duplicating tests you've already had.

Can I get my ECG done the same day?

Yes — the ECG is on-site and takes about 5–10 minutes. Results are reviewed with you during the same visit. Stress testing requires an appointment because it runs longer and uses a monitored treadmill protocol.

What should I bring to a cardiology consultation?

A current list of every medication you take (including over-the-counter and supplements), any recent test results, the name of your previous doctor if you'd like us to coordinate follow-up, and your insurance details if you'll be using coverage.

How much does a cardiology visit cost?

Cost depends on what's needed — a baseline consult with ECG is the most common starting point. We work with most major Jamaican health insurance providers; pre-authorisation may apply for stress testing or specialist follow-up. Call (876) 676-5098 for a current estimate.

What if I'm having chest pain right now?

If you're experiencing severe or prolonged chest pain, shortness of breath, or pressure that radiates to the arm or jaw, treat it as an emergency and go to the nearest hospital emergency department immediately. Amadeo's cardiology service is for evaluation, ongoing management, and follow-up — not for acute emergencies.
