Compassionate women's healthcare led by Dr. Charles Rockhead, with nearly three decades of OBGYN experience serving families across Jamaica.
The gynecology and obstetrics department at Amadeo Medical Group is led by Dr. Charles Rockhead, the Medical Director and a specialist with nearly 30 years of experience in women's health. From adolescence through menopause and beyond, our team provides personalized care that respects each patient's unique needs and concerns.
Located in the heart of Spanish Town, St. Catherine, our clinic offers a private, comfortable environment where women can discuss sensitive health matters with experienced professionals. We combine clinical expertise with the latest diagnostic tools and, when surgery is needed, our advanced laparoscopic capabilities for minimally invasive gynaecological procedures.
Our women's health services are designed for patients at every stage of life.
If you are thinking about starting a family, a pre-conception consultation helps identify health factors that could affect pregnancy outcomes and ensures you are in the best possible health before conceiving.
From your first positive test through delivery, our prenatal program provides comprehensive monitoring, ultrasound imaging, nutritional guidance, and high-risk pregnancy management with Dr. Rockhead's 30 years of experience.
Persistent pelvic pain, heavy or irregular periods, and painful menstruation could indicate fibroids, endometriosis, or hormonal imbalances that benefit from specialist evaluation and treatment.
Annual Pap smears, HPV testing, and breast examinations are essential for early detection of cervical and breast abnormalities. Women 18 and older should schedule regular gynecological check-ups.
Hot flashes, mood changes, sleep disruption, and bone health concerns during perimenopause and menopause can be managed effectively with personalized hormonal and non-hormonal treatment plans.
Initial visits typically last 30-45 minutes. Prenatal follow-ups are 15-20 minutes. Allow extra time for ultrasound or screening procedures.
Bring your ID, menstrual cycle dates, any previous medical or prenatal records, a list of current medications, and your health insurance card.
We accept most major Jamaican health insurance providers. No referral required. Open 7 days a week including Sundays for urgent concerns.
From routine screenings to high-risk pregnancy management, our department supports women at every stage.
Complete pregnancy monitoring from the first trimester through delivery. Regular check-ups, ultrasound imaging, blood work, and nutritional guidance tailored to each mother's health profile. We manage both normal and high-risk pregnancies at our Spanish Town facility.
Our obstetric team provides skilled delivery support including natural birth, assisted delivery, and caesarean section when medically indicated. Dr. Rockhead and the team prioritize safe outcomes for both mother and baby.
Family planning consultations, contraception counselling, fertility evaluations, and treatment of conditions affecting reproductive health. We help women in St. Catherine make informed decisions about their reproductive futures.
Routine Pap smears, HPV screening, and clinical breast examinations for early detection of cervical and breast abnormalities. Early screening saves lives, and we make the process as comfortable as possible.
Medical and surgical management of uterine fibroids and endometriosis, including laparoscopic myomectomy and excision surgery. Our minimally invasive approach means less pain and faster recovery for women in Jamaica.
Hormonal and non-hormonal management of menopausal symptoms including hot flashes, mood changes, and bone health concerns. Individualized treatment plans to maintain quality of life during and after the transition.

Comfortable, confidential environment for all women's health visits
Your first visit at Amadeo Medical Group includes a detailed health history discussion, a physical examination, and any necessary screenings such as a Pap smear or pelvic exam. Dr. Rockhead and our team create a welcoming environment where you can ask questions openly. We recommend bringing a list of any medications you take and noting your menstrual cycle dates. No referral is needed to book your first appointment at our Spanish Town clinic.
Our prenatal care program includes scheduled visits throughout your pregnancy with ultrasound imaging, blood pressure monitoring, blood tests, weight tracking, and fetal development assessments. We screen for gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and other conditions. Each visit is an opportunity to discuss nutrition, exercise, and preparation for delivery. High-risk pregnancies receive additional monitoring and specialist consultations as needed.
Women should begin seeing a gynecologist from age 18 or when they become sexually active, whichever comes first. Annual check-ups are recommended for routine screening. You should also schedule a visit if you experience irregular periods, pelvic pain, unusual discharge, difficulty with fertility, or symptoms of menopause. At Amadeo Medical Group, we welcome patients from across St. Catherine and Jamaica without a referral.
Yes. We recommend annual gynecological examinations for all women from age 18 or when they become sexually active. Uterine fibroids are very common in Jamaican women. Treatment options range from medication management for small fibroids to laparoscopic myomectomy (minimally invasive surgical removal) for larger or symptomatic fibroids. Dr. Rockhead evaluates each case individually, using ultrasound imaging to determine fibroid size and location before recommending the least invasive effective treatment.
